Illinois motorcycle law for red lights when they do not change?

In the state of Illinois can a motorcyclist go through a red light given an ample amount of time has been waited with no change in the traffic light. I have heard that if the signals are not sensitive enough to pick up the motorcycle that it is ok to go through if I wait an ample amount of time. What do you kow o what have you heard. Thanks
