60amp electrical panel upgrade?

I am not sure if I should upgrade to a 100amp or 200amp panel. The house is approx 1800sq feet and there are currently six circuit breakers.. I think the hole house needs to be rewired at some point but right now since my current box is missing the inside panel I was told that I should upgrade for safety reasons.. The price difference between upgrading to a 200amp instead of the 100amp is $300. Since the home is a fixer upper I rather spend the $300 elsewhere unless the 200amp will make a difference... does anyone know if a 100amp panel will become obsolete in the next 10yrs? A contractor told me that a 200amp will increase the resale value.. thanks!
